In Camerron, we have a forest of cacao, banana, and avocado trees that we named Laetitia. Its planting began in 2019 and ant it now comprises 442 plants, thanks to the Treedom program in which ICMA has taken part. It is estmated that the trees in the Laetitia forest will absorba total of 41,74 tons of CO2 in their first ten years of life.

ICMA has been contributing to the project to offset CO2 emissions, safeguard biodiversity, and provide a sustainable source of income for Cameroonian farmers, while also helping to counteract soil erosion and promote reforestation.

The Laetitia forest is located in the region knows as the Cocoa Belt, which stretches between the 20th parallel north. This area provides the optimal conditions for growing cacao but a choice was also made to vary the seedlings planted by adding banana and avocado trees.

The "custodians" of the Laetitia forest have been following the growth phases of the seedlings online, or rather, of the seeds that become seedlings, together with many fun facts about the three varieties and videos by the Treedom Forestry Managers who converse with the local communities that bring "diary" of each tree to life.

Several of the trees, including the last 15 in 2023, were planted as a result of the Kind project: for every 10.000 sheets sold from the 100% recycled paper collection, the company has decided to plant a new tree in the Cameroonian forest.
